In the spring of 2002 the town of La Plata, Maryland was decimated by a Tornado. The United Methodist Church had been planning to have the console of the organ renovated, so the storm simply forced the date of the work up. When we arrived to examine the organ following the storm, we found that the console had been left open, and there was a lot of debris on and in the console. The physical damage was not major; flying debris damaged some keys, as the windows of the church had been knocked out. There was also some moisture damage to joints.

The console was removed to our factory and taken apart, and the physical damage was repaired. Then a new multiplex operating system was installed, including a 32-level combination action, and a full MIDI system. When it was all tested in the factory, it was delivered and installed, and the lessons in the operation of the new systems began.

With the addition of more pistons and toe studs, as well as the layers of memory, the organ is much more flexible and user-friendly. The new MIDI Orchestral sounds add a different dimension to the sound of the organ. Linda Brown is the Organist, and Lloyd Bowling is the Chair of the Music Committee.
